Buttercream Icing
A soft and creamy butter flavoured icing. It is also used to adhere fondant icing to a cake. Buttercream is piped from a decorating bag to create all design work.

Royal Icing
A grease-free icing often used on gingerbread houses, as well as for decorating fondant covered cakes.

Fondant Icing
Also called sugarpaste, this is an icing with the consistency of dough. It is rolled out and draped over the cake for a seamless and incredibly smooth look. A thin layer of buttercream adheres it to the cake.
